Application Case of Perimeter Intrusion Prevention System for Changzhou Benniu International Airport

Customer Background Changzhou Benniu International Airport has a runway of 3,400 meters, an annual passenger throughput of over 4 million, and a total perimeter of about 10 kilometers. There are villages, farmland and woods around the airport, with frequent activities of personnel, hares, birds and other small animals, which brings a lot of troubles to perimeter security. Practical Problems Before Renovation • Too many false alarms leave guards overwhelmed: The old infrared countermeasure system is often triggered by hares and wild cats, with more than a dozen false alarms in one night, which greatly increases the actual workload of guards, and they often fail to notice real intrusions over the perimeter. • Poor visibility at night: The night effect of the perimeter surveillance camera is average, and it is even more blurred on foggy nights, so it does not have the all-weather capability. • Blind spots in manual patrol: The long perimeter brings high time cost for patrol, and it is impossible to monitor the perimeter situation in real time. • Disturbance from reconstruction: In 2024, the airport carried out expansion and reconstruction, requiring the demolition and reconstruction of 425 meters of perimeter, bringing great security pressure. Relying on manual guarding greatly increased labor costs. Solutions HURYS built a perimeter security monitoring system, with the radar-vision integrated device as the core, to build an integrated intelligent defense line featuring "radar active detection + accurate video recognition + real-time edge processing", solving the problems of high false alarm rate and poor all-weather capability: • Security monitoring radars are arranged along key sections of the perimeter, with built-in filtering algorithms. When hares or wild cats pass under the radar, no alarm will be triggered. Only the approach of people or vehicles can trigger an alarm, reducing false alarms by more than 90%. • Each radar is linked with a high-definition dome camera. After the radar detects a target, it will automatically command the nearby dome camera to capture and collect evidence. Guards can clearly see whether it is an intrusion or a false alarm right in front of the screen. • Edge computing nodes fuse multi-source data in real time and access the comprehensive security integrated management system, realizing the linkage of alarm, video and broadcasting. • During the non-stop construction in 2024, the relocation and renovation of the perimeter security system was completed simultaneously, ensuring seamless switching between the old and new systems and uninterrupted protection. Application Effects After the system was put into operation, the perimeter security of Changzhou Airport achieved a leap from "passive response" to "active early warning": • All-weather coverage without blind spots: Radar is not affected by day and night, rain and fog, realizing continuous monitoring of the entire perimeter and completely eliminating monitoring blind spots. • Extremely low false alarm rate: The radar-vision fusion mechanism effectively filters interference from animals and vegetation, and only real threats such as personnel and vehicles can trigger an alarm, reducing the false alarm rate by more than 90%. • Rapid linkage and disposal: Alarm information is pushed to the security monitoring center in real time, with automatic pop-up displaying the location and video of the incident, and simultaneous linkage with sound and light alarms for on-site deterrence. The average response time from detection to disposal is less than 10 seconds. Customer Evaluation "The new perimeter security system has provided a 'smart brain' for our air defense security. It is clear in imaging, accurate in identification and fast in response, and truly realizes all-weather active defense." —— Relevant person in charge of the Emergency Security Department of Changzhou Benniu International Airport
