Uzbekistan Intelligent Traffic Sensing Upgrade Project
Uzbekistan Intelligent Traffic Sensing Upgrade Project
Project Background
As part of Uzbekistan's national digital transformation strategy, the country has been actively modernizing its urban transportation infrastructure. However, many intersections in the capital and regional cities still relied on outdated fixed‑time signal control or conventional loop detectors—which were prone to failure, difficult to maintain, and unable to provide real‑time traffic data. To address these challenges, the local transportation authority sought a reliable, all‑weather sensing solution that could seamlessly integrate with existing signal controllers and deliver accurate, real‑time traffic data for adaptive signal control.
Our Solution
Leveraging our proven radar‑video fusion sensing technology, we provided a comprehensive solution featuring radar‑vision fusion microwave detectors, deployment planning, and integration support. The detectors were precisely installed on traffic signal poles at key intersections across the city, without the need for road excavation or disruption to ongoing traffic.
Each detector integrates a millimeter‑wave radar with a high‑definition video module, enabling:
-
Vehicle presence detection – Accurate detection of vehicles waiting at stop lines and approaching the intersection.
-
Passage counting – Reliable per‑lane traffic volume statistics.
-
Flow speed measurement – Real‑time speed monitoring for each lane.
-
Radar‑video overlay – Visual verification and enhanced detection reliability.
The detectors were deeply integrated with existing signal controllers from multiple brands via standard interfaces (I/O, RS485, RJ45), ensuring seamless interoperability without replacing the existing control hardware.
Project Outcomes
The deployment has delivered measurable improvements:
-
Intersection efficiency – Signal timing now responds to actual traffic demand, reducing unnecessary waiting and wasted green time.
-
Traffic order – Queue spillback and red‑light violations have decreased noticeably.
-
All‑weather reliability – The radar‑video fusion design ensures stable operation in fog, rain, and low‑light conditions—overcoming the limitations of pure video systems.
-
Low‑maintenance operation – With no moving parts and robust IP67‑rated enclosures, the detectors require minimal maintenance compared to buried loops.
Strategic Significance
This project marks a successful entry into the Central Asian intelligent transportation market. It demonstrates our ability to deliver turnkey sensing solutions that integrate with diverse local infrastructure, adapt to regional traffic conditions, and meet the operational requirements of local authorities. The success of the Uzbekistan project has since opened further discussions for similar deployments in neighboring countries, reinforcing our position as a trusted provider of radar‑based intelligent traffic solutions in the region.
